Compass Internship Success

The Compass Internship Programme has made a positive impact by providing graduates with the skills and knowledge necessary to be successful in their chosen careers. Recruitment is currently underway for the 2023 programme for prospective interns.

The programme offers a unique opportunity to learn from some of the best and most experienced professionals in the organisation while developing key employability skills such as teamwork, communication, problem-solving and time management. It also provides the experience of working in a professional environment which is essential for success in today’s competitive job market.

The feedback from previous interns has been overwhelmingly positive, with many citing the programme as a key factor in helping them secure full-time employment.

“After graduating from the University of Cape Town with a BSc Honours in Property Studies, I was accepted into Communicare’s Compass Internship Programme as a Rental Property Management intern. My fellow colleagues’ keen interest in my skills and input was extremely encouraging because, even though I had no working experience, my input was valued which made me feel part of the team. My manager’s optimism and encouragement to explore the organisation to experience different working roles was a blessing and it opened my eyes to the endless career possibilities, which helped me find my passion and career direction. This exploration made me cross paths with my new manager and team. I am the company’s Junior Property Analyst” – Dylan Hubner, Compass Programme intern 2021.

I worked for Communicare for almost two years. I started as an intern where I was exposed to Property Management. It was a very positive experience that gave me valuable skills for life. Through the experience I learnt that property management is an area that I have a lot to learn about, but it is something I really love. The organisation and its employees are super fabulous! They are supportive and helpful. I enjoyed my time and I hope one day I will come back” – Onke Sotshongaye, Compass Programme intern 2020.

I joined the Compass Internship Programme back in 2020, two weeks before the COVID-19 lockdown hit. At first, it was quite challenging because I had to get to know a new organisation and I had to adapt to online working as an intern fresh from university. However, my team and my boss were there for me throughout my internship and provided me with the knowledge and necessary support. The internship gave me practical experience in Human Resources and the Project Management course we completed assisted me in better managing my projects. I am now the company’s Human Capital Administrator. Recruiting for the Compass internship every year is what I look forward to because I know the benefits and the necessary skills one will acquire with the internship and how it will positively impact interns’ careers” – Ntombizethu Ntantiso, Compass Programme intern 2020.
