Climbing the ladder of success

Imagine completing two years of your degree with the possibility of funding your final year slim to non-existent. This was the reality for 23-year-old Kauthar Salie.

The discovery
Fortunately, this young lady’s mother, a Communicare NPC employee, knew of the Vulamathuba Empumemelo Bursary Fund. Kauthar applied and received financial aid for her final year of studies.

“I studied BCom General, majoring in Economics and Management at the University of the Western Cape. Without the Vulamathuba Empumemelo Bursary, I would not have been able to finish my final year and obtain my degree, which was the biggest stepping-stone on my path to securing a promising future for myself. The bursars supported me by helping me build character through voluntary work.

Graduating

“Words cannot describe my emotions at my graduation. I was proud, joyful, happy, and sad. Proud of my achievements, but also that I could make my parents proud and happy and sad that my journey was over (for now). It is all I’ve ever wanted, and I’m so glad I got to experience that on my graduation day.

“The Vulamathuba Empumelelo bursary helped me tremendously, enabling me to concentrate on my final year studies and not worry about finances. I recommend this bursary to anyone and everyone needing help or a little assistance to achieve their goals and chase their dreams, as I have.

“I am doing a graduate program as a Merchandise Planner and plan to be in a leadership position in my chosen field. Thanks to Vulamathuba Empumemelo for believing in me.”
